I have met up with Mrs Diane Powell, a retired opthamic sister and lecturer as well as ex-president of the Tokai Lions club here in Cape Town. She is working closely with the hospitals and has been the pioneer of this very worthy and needed project.
Many of our hospitals on the Cape flats are desperately looking for support. Mothers are having babies and are unable to afford baby clothing and blankets. Infact, it as been documented that babies have been sent home wrapped in a plastic sheet, one that is used on the birthing table. A story has been sent to us that the ambulance actually took the plastic sheet off the baby when delivering the baby home.
We at All Women Recycling are touched by this project and have decided to support it. We have to date collated 18 blankets, knitted hats and baby clothing. We ask all our supporters and customers to share in this project as together we will make a difference.
